decent light

Finally!  The clouds let enough sun light through so I can take some photos of my pages.

a group of pages

Here's what I completed last week.

Soccer ended.

They made banners in Minecraft.

It felt good to have hidden journaling again.

A soccer page for the family book.

A soccer page for his book.  (We both preferred this one, so I put it in his album.)

layouts

I'm in a group of scrappers called The Sheila's.  We all met online for a circle journal and stay in contact regularly, for over 5.5 years.  Some of us have even met in real life.

This week we are having a summer reunion.  The nice thing about this group is they get me to make things I normally wouldn't.  Some of the pages 'due' were these:

Scrap your favorite vacation:

I loved our 'staycation' evening in our back yard earlier this summer.

Scrap life now:

This is us.  I used colors I like because this layout is more for me.

There is more info under the smaller photos.

hide-n-play

The kids enjoyed hiding under blankets while they played the electronics.

So I tried to have the layout imitate them.

I used DCWV paper, Thickers, a punch and liquid pearls.

HIMCR DT #124 - Die Cuts!

This week at HIMCR we used die cuts on our projects.  I made this layout of my son's current likes.

Under the picture is hidden journaling explaining everything.

My die cuts are the sun (Designers Calendar), cloud and lightning (Indie Art), clocks (Going Places) and stars (EK Success punches).  I also used brads, paper and 3D adhesive.

I hope you are able to link to HIMCR.  They are giving away a Cricut cartridge this week.

Layouts from NSD

Here are some of the layouts I made for challenges on scrapbook.com on NSD.

For the Instagram challenge (use at east 4 square pics)

This was for the Washi tape challenge.  (use the tape in at least 3 different ways)

I made this for the negative challenge. (show paper behind a punch or die cut.)

My CJ's last pages

For 3 1/2 years I have been involved in a post card circle journal.  I finally received my finished book.  It is so touching to see all the work everyone did and all the different styles we have.

As originally planned, I made 2 more pages to finish out my book.  They show how my life, and style have grown over time.  All the pages I made for everyone's book have the same elements.

This is the left page with our family and a post card.

It flips down to show another postcard. I had to include this one because the boys love driving over the 'fancy' bridge.

This is the right page.

It shows where we live, plus all the people and companies that are relevant to the area.

Here is the opening page I made for the book many years ago.  You can see we have lost a bunny but added a son since then.

And this is the first details page I made.  I like the current ones much better.

My how things have changed.

The TARDIS

Our family loves the show 'Doctor Who.'  One day my boys told me that their closet was the TARDIS (time machine) and their flashlights were sonic screwdrivers.

I really wanted to showcase their imagination so I made a TARDIS.

I used card stock from DCWV's  'Christmas & Winter' stack with some adhesives, alphas and Fiskars trimmer to make a 3D TARDIS.  The light at the top folds back so I can put this in a page protector later.

And inside the are my boys,

just like the Doctor.

Happy Brothers

The boys were putting their jump ropes on my legs.  It was a lot of fun and I was soooo glad I had my phone on me.  That was the only camera I had access to in that moment.  I was impressed with the pictures.  They led to this layout:

Aren't they cute?  I really lucked out.  Even though the main picture is great, I had to include other ones of them playing with the jump ropes.  I hid them under the caravan banner.

I fussy cut squares from the paper and attached them as tabs on the bottom of the pictures.  They are all matted too.  The photos slide in between the 3-D adhesive strips for the banner.

I used 9 different papers from DCWV 'All About Boys 2' stack.  I was really excited when the alphas were the right color AND fit on the truck.  The words in the upper left corner are a rub-on.

CJ with Momenta papers

First of all I'm happy to announce this is my 100th post!  Yey!

Ok, now...

I am part of a circle journal.  The journal is sent to everyone and we each add our pages.  I just finished my pages of this journal.  Under one of the postcards is images and a list of all the things that originated here.

The Momenta 'Family Outings' paper pad looks great on it.  All the patterns accent each other and the postcards wonderfully.  I can't wait to use this combination again.

Halloween Bees

Happy Thanksgiving!  Here is a layout I have about the last holiday, Halloween.  Aren't these bees cute?

The top photo flips up to reveal more pics and journaling.

I used the computer and stickers for all the lettering on this layout.  You can't really see the yellow ink accents in the photo.  Here is how I began, by making sure all the pictures I have would fit within the size of the largest one.

I used the scoring blade to make the flap.

I also covered the back side of the brads.  This was to make sure I didn't have any bumps on the front picture.

I hope all your holidays are great.  Again, Happy Thanksgiving from a bunch of bees!

Window

Like their dad, my boys LOVE being in the truck....even if it's not on.

I had a multiple pics of various sizes, so i made flaps.  Here is the medium size pic.

I added a DCWV border under the small pic.

Then I put a truck sticker at the bottom.  I keep buying these stickers because I fear they will disappear someday.

I also used Doodlebug and Paper Studio papers, an Ek Success punch and diamond Stickles around the edge.

Olives

My husband and kids love olives.  I don't.  But I do like how this layout turned out.

This picture shows the hidden journaling.

Here is how I assembled this layout:

After I selected which color I wanted for the photo mats, I used a pencil to mark trimmer guides for cutting out the space under the picture.

Then I cut out the main part of the matting that is under the photo.

Next, put adhesive along the edges of the photo mat.  (Yes, I know in the scrapbook world using glue stic ties me to the devil.  But its acid free, photo safe, cheap and only in my books so I don't care what other people use.)

Before the adhesive dries, put the center piece inside the outer edges of the photo mat to make sure they are square.  (the back of my green paper was brown)

I decided to ink the edges of my papers.  I stamped the potential colors on a scrap paper to see which one I liked.  As I was stamping them I thought:  looks good, too purple, too light, no, too light for the green paper.

Then I inked the edges of the main background paper and the photo mats.  After that, I chose the ink for my journaling in the same fashion as the ink.

Next I wrote on the section of the photo mat I had cut out.

Make sure to stop the journaling high enough on the paper so you can't see it.  This will give the illusion of a continuous photo mat.

Add adhesive to the back of the photo mat only.  This gets attached to your main background paper.  Again, don't put any adhesive on the picture, you need that space for the journaling block.

Then add any other embellishments and you are done!  And yes, the green stickles I used are appropriately labeled 'crushed olive.'
