Couple more

The boys all slept in so I used that time to finish up the other 2 layouts I started at the crop last weekend.

Here is one featuring my younger son and his car.  I kept it very simple to make sure the accent was on the pictures.

This one show the boys and I making muffin pizzas.  Its hard to see, but I added red and black doodled dots all over the cream paper.  It made the pictures match better.

For this one, I used the 'Pooh Font' cartridge in 3 different ways.  The 'make your' is 3/4."  "own' is 1" set on marker.  "PIZZA' was cut 1" with marker shadow.  This way I have different words accented without using multiple cartridges.

Name Tags

When the Cricut is mentioned, most people think of fancy titles, cool images or elaborate creations.  While this is all true, I also like the consistency that a Cricut provides.

During Bear Week at preschool, the kids were allowed to bring their animals to school with a name tag.  Because my boys are close in age, I made some for each of my kids and their favorite animal.  I took a picture of each boy with their animal and printed them out as 2x3" (wallet) size.

I figured out the size I needed (5") then used the 'George and Basic Shapes' cartridge and cut out 8 rectangles.

I fussy cut a window in 4 of the rectangles for the picture to show through.  (Sorry I don't have a picture of this step but little boys were hovering.)  Then I glued the pieces together and taped the edges so it wouldn't come apart.  I added their names and the names of their animal and punched a hole for the string.

In the morning, I put the name tags on their animals.

I made sure to get a picture of everyone...

...and we went to school.  Here they are with the teacher.

I'm happy to say everyone had a very good day.

Layouts from the crop

I stole a few minutes and finished up most of the layouts I started at the MS crop last weekend.  It's amazing how much desk space you lose when a little boy is there to 'help' you.

My older son was teaching his bear the ins-and-outs of potty training.  They both got everything right.   Some of the brands I used are Paper Studio, DCWV, Rubber Stampede and Opposites Attract cartridge.

Believe it or not, the ONLY time he was angry was when I took the picture.  Otherwise he was very excited to hold the vacuum himself.  I thought the picture and Basic Grey paper were so strong that I left this layout very simple.

This is my boys and I chilling on the couch.  I love pictures of all of us.  Most of the items on here are from Fancy Pants.  I like how the transparency softened the look of everything.

I was sent the toy and striped papers for the Ugly Paper challenge on scrapbook.com.  I could do anything I wanted as long as both papers showed up on the layout.  The papers were perfect for my little boys and their current toys.  The other papers are Colorbok and the words are from the Boys Will Be Boys cartridge.

I have 2 more layouts from the crop left to finish.  I'm not sure if this happens to you or not, but my layouts seem simpler when I work on them at crops as opposed to ones I make at home.  Either way, I really like how they all turned out.

SP & Co Blog

I wanted to give a big shout out to the SP & Co Blog.  They liked my card and selected me to be a Guest Designer!  That is so cool!  She is having more challenges on the blog, so check it out.  And all her stamps are made here in the USA.

Crop for MS

I attended an awesome crop yesterday.  All the proceeds went to the National MS Society which made everything better.  Of course today I get to put everything away.  I hope to take pictures of all the layouts I started, with the intention of finishing at home, soon.  If I don't finish them, I'll take photos and share anyways.

I hope you are having a great weekend.

Snowman greeting card

I just received my 'Falling Snow' stamp set from SP & Co.  Even though the prime time for holiday cards has passed, I really wanted to make one.  When I saw the 'Blue & White' challenge on the SP Stamps Blog I knew I had the perfect stamps for it.

Here is what I made:

I used SP & Co. 'Falling Snow' and Fiskars 'All Year Cheer' stamps on DCWV 'Christmas Combo' paper, 'Waterfall' Stickles, Rubber Stampede Primary Blue and Green ink with Prisma Color 'Grass Green,' 'Pink Rose,' 'Warm Grey 20,' ' Light Peach,' and 'Non-Photo Blue' pencils, and EK Success 3-D dots adhesive to make it all stand out.

I chose to shade the card with pencils because of the soft background paper.  It seemed like the snow and snowman needed the same gentle texture.

This card turned out really cute and I'm excited about these stamps.  Good luck to everyone that entered the 'Blue and White' challenge this week.

Liebster Award

My friend Kim at Paper Munch recently gave me a blog award called the Liebster Award.  "Liebster is German for dearest, beloved or favorite.  This award is a chain letter style award to showcase up-and-coming blogs (usually with 200 or fewer followers.)

Here are the rules:
-Choose 5 up and coming blogs of fewer than 200 followers to award the Liebster to.
-Show your thanks to the blogger who gave you the award by linking back to them.
-Post the award on your blog.
-Link back to the blogs you have given the Liebster to so everyone else can pay them a visit.

These are my 5:
Congratulations everyone!  And a huge thank you to Kim for selecting me.

Mitten Love

For a Mom's night at the preschool, the teachers asked what each kid loved about their mom and put it on a mitten.  It was soooo sweet.

I wanted the layout to have that preschool feel so I used primary colors, simple patterns and glue as accents.  Here is the glue still wet.

This is after the glue dried.  It came out great.

I really like the DCWV 'Textures' stack, all the solids by Colorbok and the ribbon by Recollections.

Feeling Better

It was soooooo good to scrap again.  I finished a layout.  I'm waiting for the glue to dry and for any type of better lighting, preferable sunshine.  Hopefully I'll have a good picture tomorrow to share.  I hope you are having a great week!

Ugh

My husband was nice enough to share his head cold with me.  Because of this, I am brainstorming a lot and waiting for the moment I can craft again.  I'm hoping things will be well by Friday......

Congrats card

I made this Friday night for my aunt's wedding on Saturday.  All the colors were in her wedding ensemble.

All the papers were scraps I've had for years and I can't remember any of their brands.  The letters are from the 'Stone Script' cartridge and the glasses were from 'Jubilee.'  I used Black Diamond and Crystal Stickles.

Luck was with me for this card because it also fits the criteria for the sparkly challenge on the Creative Cutter Room blog.  Awesome.

Helpers

Even though my list of things to do around the house is long, I made sure I scrapped today.  It's been a long time and I was starting to go nuts.  I used my Christmas present, the 'Tool Time' collection by 'Three Bugs In A Rug.'

The Recollection brads were a perfect match.  It was a fast and easy layout, but I love how it turned out.  And it felt great to scrap again.

Spread the love

I know you all are probably burnt out from making Christmas and other holiday cards.  If you are looking for a change of pace, please consider making cards for others.  Here are 2 organizations I contribute to.

Operation Write Home.  They send homemade, blank inside cards to troops over seas.  The troops fill them out and send the cards to their loved ones at home.  http://operationwritehome.org/needs.html

Cards for Kids.  She collects cards to give to the battered and abused kids that attend her camp every summer.  It's a way to lift their spirits.  http://www.scrapbook.com/forums/showtopic.php?tid/1562519/

Thank you.

Hello.  If you are like me, the holidays were so busy you barely had time to sleep.  Although they are fun and provide great photo opportunities that can lead to awesome layouts, I'm glad they are done.  I am making more projects and I hope to share them with you soon.
