Worm

The boys were playing in the stones when I heard:

PURPLE LINE MOVING!!!  PURPLE LINE MOVING!!!

Zach found a worm.  I was pretty impressed by the description considering it was the first time he'd ever seen one.  And Alex had to check it out too...

I liked the opportunity to use purple.  Some day when I order the 'purple' Stickles I will add it.

May uglies

This is what I had to work with for May:

The mean part is I have the red paper in my stack for someone else!  Anyways, I used the dinos along the top.  The red is around all the logos and in a strip behind all the characters along the top.

My boys watch these PBS shows some mornings.  They like them and I know they have learned too.

Window

Like their dad, my boys LOVE being in the truck....even if it's not on.

I had a multiple pics of various sizes, so i made flaps.  Here is the medium size pic.

I added a DCWV border under the small pic.

Then I put a truck sticker at the bottom.  I keep buying these stickers because I fear they will disappear someday.

I also used Doodlebug and Paper Studio papers, an Ek Success punch and diamond Stickles around the edge.

a few layouts

I finished a few layouts.  It's taking a while to get my scrap mojo going full swing, but I'm getting there.

Speaking of swings, here is my youngest on a swing.  He loves them!  I used Basicgrey, DCWV, Stickles and some ink.

And here is my older son.  He saw a bug on the side of the porch and said "be careful bug."  Then he used his foot to squish the bug.

Egg Hunt

I finished a layout of my boys at the Town Easter Egg Hunt from this year.  I used DCWV paper, Thickers, Ek Success punch and Stickles.  I love that I got to use purple too.

The left side is the before pic and my boys anxiously waiting.

The right side shows them getting their eggs.  The whole event lasted 30 seconds to 1 minute.  It was quick, crazy fun.

I also 'fixed' my Gymboree Tunnel layout.  I took the 'flowers' off and replaced them with flat circles.  I kept the buttons and added some Stickles.  To keep with the 'handmade' part of the original challenge, I drew and cutout the circles myself.

Scrapbook mini album

Over on scrapbook.com (my other home) their week long challenge for National Scrapbook Day was to make a mini album about me.  After stressing for 3 days deciding what I was going to make (and wasting time thinking) I opted for a book about my scrapbooking life.

This is the first time I have made a mini album.  It was a lot of fun.  I hope to make more but I worry about where to store and display them after it's finished.

Here is the cover.  The title a phrase I say often and has kind of become my motto for this hobby.  I tried to use a variety of supplies.  The entire book is in my favorite colors, green, black and white.

Page one is about how I got started with scrapbooking.  I can honestly say it's all my husband's fault.  On page 2 I describe my scrap space and included a pic.  I used a black and white pic to keep the color tones of the album consistent.

Then page 3 lists all the reasons I love to scrapbook!  Page 4 describes how my style and techniques have evolved since I started.  I'm happy to report that I have come a long way. I tried to use different embellishments and tools I have acquired over the years.

On page 5 I used different words that describe my current style.  Then on page 6 I listed all the paper crafting items I have made.  The picture is me, at my scrap desk, making mailboxes and cards for my kids' Valentine's Day party.

This is the back cover.  I used 'my' stamp as the focal point.  It's fun to say you have your own stamp.

This was a lot of fun and I look forward to making more.

Stuff from NSD

Hi!  I hope you all had a great National Scrapbook Day.  I did!  I hung out on scrapbook.com all day and participated in their challenges.  Here is what I created:

The first challenge was to make a themed card, using only scraps, in an hour.  I chose Father's Day.  I used scrap paper, some stickers and doodled.

After the card, all the challenges were for 2 hours.  Next we had to make a layout about our favorite tool.  It was a good way to honor and advertise the item you use most.  I did the layout about my trimmer.  I used paper, buttons, Thickers and Stickles.

In the preparations blog it mentioned we needed a large tag and lined paper, so I thought we were making a tag.  Wrong!  Our next challenge requirement was 5-10 sentences of journaling.  I had already made kits for the other topics, but not this one.  So I frantically looked for pics, paper and pieces that coordinated.

I ended up making a layout about my boys looking at bugs.  This was the first time I got to use my bug punches, so that was a nice bonus.

The fourth challenge was to use 3-5 pics on a vacation/travel layout.  We haven't gone anywhere in the past few years so I chose to scrap our honeymoon in San Antonio, TX.  (Awesome place to visit btw)  I hand drew and cut the large state.

The last challenge was to make flowers for a layout.  I don't like/use/do flowers so this was a realllllly big challenge for me.  I did it, with paper and buttons, but I hate how they turned out.  Later I'm going to take the 'flowers' off and replace them with flat circles and buttons.  Then I will be happier.

I had such a blast.  NSD is already marked on the calendar for next year.
